ConnectEast is the owner and operator of Melbourne's EastLink tollway, the 39km motorway that connects the Eastern, Monash and Frankston Freeways in the city's East.
On a typical workday, more than 200,000 trips are made on EastLink, instead of the more congested, stop-start local roads like Springvale Road and Stud Road - saving time and fuel, and cutting GHG emissions. With 17% of workday trips made by light and heavy commercial vehicles, EastLink makes a significant contribution to the efficiency of Melbourne's logistics and supply chains, as well as taking large vehicles away from local roads and residential areas.
A fleet of more than 25 vehicles is used to service EastLink, and ConnectEast is offsetting the GHG emissions of these vehicles with Greenfleet.
ConnectEast is continuing to develop the EastLink environment, including more than 480 hectares of landscaping and wetlands.
Adjacent to EastLink, the 35km EastLink Trail is a three-metre wide path, suitable for cyclists and pedestrians. Winding through the Mullum Mullum Valley, the Trail heads south to connect with the Dandenong Creek Trail, leading directly to Port Phillip bay, and also connecting with many other trails, open spaces, parks and reserves along the way.
ConnectEast supports local communities through a range of initiatives including the EastLink Road Safety program for young people in partnership with the Eastern Football League and the Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League. ConnectEast is a founding partner of the Hanover ConnectEast Ride for Home - a fundraising cycle event held on the EastLink tollway each November.
