Manningham City Council is committed to reducing its carbon footprint, with the aim of being Carbon Neutral by 2020.

Since taking part in the 'Cities for Climate Protection' program, Council has developed its own Climate 2020 Action Plan, which focuses on improving energy efficiency and reducing emissions while continuing to provide high quality service to the community.

Council's services include operating a wide range of buildings, public lighting and vehicles, each of which uses different forms of energy - electricity, gas and fuels.

Manningham's vehicle fleet comprises heavy service or response vehicles, such as trucks, street sweepers, graders and mowers, and passenger cars.  The Civic Centre fleet comprises four cylinder cars including fuel efficient petrol, diesel and hybrid, as well as a newly introduced all-electric car.  Council also has two electric bicycles for staff to use on shorter trips.

Manningham Council began offsetting its Civic Centre fleet emissions in 2008.  Since joining Greenfleet on 1 July 2010, more than 2,240 trees will be planted to offset our emissions.
