Kangan Batman TAFE is:

• Victoria's major training provider for the automotive, aerospace and polymer industries;
• The State's largest provider of VET in schools, apprenticeship/traineeship programs and corrections education;
• A former winner of the Training Provider of the Year Award (2001) in the Victorian Training Awards;
• Host to more than 24,000 students across seven campuses located in Broadmeadows, Richmond, Coburg, Essendon, Moreland and Avondale Heights; and
• The home of the Automotive Centre of Excellent (ACE), a 5-Green Star Rated building housing the latest in environmentally friendly, advanced automotive technologies.

As part of our commitment to the environment, Kangan Batman TAFE has implemented and maintains an Environmental Management System.  The Environmental Management System encompasses a number of different environmental aspects of the Institute, and manages them accordingly.  With major campus locations situated in the Melbourne metropolitan area, each campus has a varying amount of impact on the environment due to the unique operations at each of the sites.  All operational and functional aspects of the organisation have been identified, addressed accordingly, and are continually monitored and improved upon under the Environmental Management System.

Initiatives such as the registering of our vehicles with Greenfleet, inclusion of LPG powered vehicles in the Institute's fleet, as well as the purchase of a number of Toyota Prius' - a hybrid petrol/electric low emissions vehicle, are several of the automotive environmental initiatives taken to offset or reduce greenhouse gas emissions, as required by our Environmental Policy and Environmental Management System.
