University of South Australia

32 vehicles
138 tonnes of CO2-e

The University of South Australia is the largest university in SA. Our campuses range from Adelaide CBD to Whyalla on the Eyre Peninsula. UniSA is committed to creating, applying, and communicating knowledge which delivers economic and social benefits through action that is intelligent, innovative and flexible.

As a member of the Greenhouse Challenge, UniSA has committed itself to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions. Through the Challenge, UniSA undertakes to put in place cost-effective actions to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions and to encourage its staff and other organisations to implement similar measures. These measures include:

  • The installation of push-button controls for lighting and air conditioning;
  • The regular servicing of university vehicles to ensure optimum performance;
  • The recycling of paper, cardboard, and packaging;
  • The conversion of UniSA's light commercial and passenger fleet to LPG;
  • Vehicle loading / Pooling - UniSA encourages pool users to maximise vehicle loading from a common pick up point at a common time to destinations that are reasonably compatible; and
  • Ensuring the correct tyre pressure is maintained across all vehicle types.

UniSA has now joined the Greenfleet family as part of its continued commitment to the Greenhouse Challenge. A total of 32 fleet vehicles have been signed up to the program offsetting 137.6 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions. UniSA is proud to be involved with the Greenfleet program, and encourages other educators to become involved in this excellent environmental initiative.
