Negotiators at COP17 in Durban have reached a deal to involve all major global emitters in the international fight against climate change.
The deal has prompted predictable responses around the globe - with environmentalists saying more is needed and major emitters complaining about the potential impact on financial bottom lines - perhaps this means a happy (or unhappy) medium has been reached?
Negotiations are set to continue for a few more years to nut out the finer details, with the new deal to be in place by 2020 at the latest. In the meantime the Kyoto Protocol will be extended for a further five years.
