More talk and less action on climate change?

With just $30m set aside over two years for a 'campaign on climate change' - it seems we are set for more talk and less action on the 'greatest moral challenge of our time'.

John Breusch reports in The Australian Financial Review, the Federal Government has set aside $17m in 2009-10 and $13m in 2010-11 to restore community support for an ETS, which is says it will not revisit until late 2012.

Umm, with just six weeks left in the 2009-10 financial year, does that mean in the last ten and a half months they've spent $17m on a climate change campaign which has delivered no tangible results - or are we about to see a big shiny advertising campaign?

There is hope for some action with $652m pledged to funding for renewables and energy efficiency.  The details are sketchy at the moment, with the government pledging to develop a 'renewable energy future fund', but not specifying what the fund will do or how it will operate.

But what about those emissions we've already released?  Well it looks like its left up to Joe Public to take action yet again.
