Star Rent A Car

Fuel Offset

"We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children" -  Navajo (Native American tribe) proverb

Star Rent A Car is a newly formed and rapidly expanding car rental company based on the Gold Coast - servicing Gold Coast and Brisbane metropolitan areas, as well as south east Queensland and northern New South Wales.

We at Star Rent A Car strongly dismiss the myth that environmental best practices and economic success are mutually exclusive.  Greenfleet is a shining example of how easy and cost effective it is to realise our full potential while reducing our impact on Planet Earth.

To this end, we also utilise biodegradable cleaning products, recycled water and 'dry-washing' techniques to maintain our vehicles, wherever possible.  We exclusively use ethanol blended fuels, such as E10, and encourage all of our clients to do the same.  We recycle any waste that is suitable for safe recycling, generated by our business and personal activities.

We feel that for real and sustainable change to occur in our current climate, all sectors of society - including governments and the private sector, as well as the general public - have to take a united stance on environmental issues.  Therefore as a small company we are very proud of our association with Greenfleet and encourage all others - including our client base - to become actively involved in this important cause.

Australian Securities and Investments Commission

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission enforces company and financial services laws to protect consumers, investors and creditors.  We regulate and inform the public about Australian companies, financial markets, financial services organisations and professionals who deal and advise in investments, superannuation, insurance, deposit taking and credit.

Under our environmental policy, we are committed to continuously improving our environmental performance.

ASIC's Sydney office, our largest, is certified to International Standard ISO14001:2004 Environmental Management Systems. There has been continuous improvement in our environmental program, including increased recycling and the setting of targets.

A number of initiatives have been implemented nationally, including energy monitoring and duplex printing.   We have reduced the size of our car fleet and where possible have reduced the size of our vehicles, as well as improving the number of vehicles with a Green Vehicle Guide rating of 10.5 or better.  Our membership of Greenfleet is supported as a means of offsetting emissions from our vehicle fleet.

We are exploring a range of strategies for further improvement of our environmental performance and reduction of our carbon footprint.

Northern Highland Travel

Fuel Offset - coach tours + 1 car

Award winning national tour operator Northern Highland Travel is on the road to carbon neutrality.  Managing Director Jenny Aitchison has announced that all carbon emissions for domestic tours operated by the company will be offset in an arrangement with Greenfleet.

"We have been cosidering options for reducing our carbon footprint for the last six months.  The travel industry contributes approximately 1% of all carbon emissions and, of all travel modalities, coaches have the lowest emissions of greenhouse cases per passenger kilometre - less than motorcycles, heavy and light rail and air transport.  Wile the footprint of our industry is small, it is important that all Australian companies play their part.  The environment is something we all need to act on individually and take responsibility in order to achieve global results."

"While we complete the upgrading of all our fleet to meet the European 3 emission standards in March 2007, we wanted to do more."

"We considered the options offered by airlines, where passengers can opt in to pay for environmental offsets as an additional ticket cost - however we believe that all transport providers need to tae leadership on this issue and, consequently, we will be fully funding our domestic coach emissions out of our existing fares at NO EXTRA COST to our passengers. It is a little bit we can do to help preserve our environment for future generations."

"We will be considering options in the near future for passengers to offset their airfares purchased from airline operators."
