Greenfleet supporters contribute to the restoration of Western Sydney

On 20th and 21st April, Greenfleet supporters took time out of their busy work schedules to help plant a biodiverse native forest at Mt Carmel Retreat in Varroville, Western Sydney.

Enthusiastic and hardworking employees from Telstra, Smartgroup, Sydney Opera House, Splend and Disney worked tirelessly over the two days to plant nearly 2000 native shrubs and trees – an amazing contribution by all.

Here is what Team Captain from Telstra Steve Ellis had to say about the day: “Just wanted to say it was a great day yesterday and to plant over 1000 trees as a team was fantastic.”

The restoration project at Mt Carmel Retreat in Sydney is part of an ongoing project to revegetate the bare, sprawling hills which surround the Mt Carmel Retreat in Varroville.

In 2015, employees from Smartgroup helped to plant 1,200 native trees at the site. Remarkably, after only 12 months since the initial revegetation commenced, a notable increase in native birdlife and marsupials has been seen across the reforested area. The returning native fauna has been enjoyed by the many visitors to Mt Carmel Retreat, who come to this place to reflect in the peaceful surroundings.

Whether it is by planting trees with Greenfleet or offsetting emissions with us, supporting Greenfleet is a simple way to positively act on climate change and protect the environment.

From all of us at Greenfleet - thank you for your hard work and dedication!
