3,000 native trees planted by Greenfleet’s corporate supporters

Greenfleet and our business supporters have been out partnering for climate action!

Last Friday, 70 corporate volunteers joined the Greenfleet team at ‘The New Forest’, in Newham, Victoria, for our annual Planting Day event. Fifteen organisations swapped their work shoes for gumboots and trekked through the mud for a day of practical climate action, team bonding and fresh air.

Across 3ha of bare land, 3,000 native seedlings were planted. This included Silver Wattle (Acacia dealbata), Swamp Gum (Eucalyptus ovata) and Prickly Tea Tree (Leptospermum continetale). With such a range of local species natives, not only do we get to look forward to what will be an incredible biodiverse forest in years to come but more importantly, this practical climate action will help absorb over 1800 tonnes of carbon emissions by 2118. That’s the equivalent of offsetting the emissions of over 420 standard vehicles for one year.

We also lucked out with a beautiful sunny day, as well as the playful curiosity of farm animals; a sheep that thought it was a dog, Scottish Highland cows that were eager to be fed and of course no farm would be complete without a cock-a-doodle-doo rooster.

A huge thank you to all involved. Your hard work and smiling faces have contributed to a positive environmental cause. Our volunteers included staff from Telstra, Abco Products, ACIL Allen Consulting, Computershare, Daylesford and Hepburn Mineral Springs Co, Europcar, FleetPartners, Kings Transport, Man With A Van, Northmost, Powercor, The Walt Disney Company, EBOS, BlackRock and THL.

A special thank you to Kate and Andrew for welcoming us on to their beautiful Newham property and planting a forest for the next generation.
