1000 trees planted with our Queensland supporters

1000 trees planted with our Queensland supporters

Schuster Park is a special place for Greenfleet. Over the last few years, it is here that we have met with our Queensland supporters to take much needed climate action together. This year, we returned for the third time to continue our work in this beautiful part of the world.

The picturesque Tallebudgera Creek runs through Schuster Park.

Gold Coast City Council worked hard to prepare the site for our arrival and carefully selected a piece of land within Schuster Park for native revegetation. Preparing the site and pre-digging the holes meant that we could get straight into the action – tree planting!

Our supporters taking climate action and getting their hands dirty!

The first step was to randomly scatter the seedlings. This was important as we were planting multiple species on the day, including Eucalypts and some Casuarina. As a result, we wanted to ensure that the species were evenly distributed across the site. Once we had dropped all of the seedlings into their holes, the hard work could begin.

Over the next hour and a half our supporters - along with Saraya, Clay and Josh from Gold Coast Council - planted more than 1000 trees for our climate! It’s incredible to see what can be achieved when we all work together to take climate action. Once we had concluded our planting, we made way for the watering of the trees to begin so that they could get well adjusted to their new soil. But the day wasn’t complete for us yet.

As this is the third time, we had planted trees in Schuster Park, we took the opportunity to return to past sites that we had revegetated. It’s exciting to see what our work today will look like in the future and it made us look forward to returning in the years to come and seeing how much more the forests will have grown.

After a lunch and a well-earned break, everyone was back on their way. We’d like to take the opportunity to thank Gold Coast City Council for their assistance in planning this event, and for their help on the day. And we like to say a very special thank you to all our supporters who joined us from the below organisations.
