New Greenfleet Chair to drive ambitious strategy

Long-time advocate for small business in the automobile industry, Gunther Jurkschat, has been appointed Chair of Greenfleet.

“We are delighted that Gunther Jurkschat has assumed the reins at Greenfleet. After five years as a director on Greenfleet’s board, Gunther has a deep understanding of our organisation and our mission,” says Greenfleet’s CEO, Wayne Wescott.

“These are exciting times for Greenfleet. Gunther’s extensive knowledge of the automotive industry and his passionate advocacy of practical action on climate change will bring new opportunities for Greenfleet,” Mr Wescott adds.

Working in a number of senior management roles for the Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce, Mr Jurkschat has been actively involved in growing the VACC membership base, developing and formulating policies, and currently oversees the organisation’s commercial activities.

“Relying on governments and politicians to solve our problems is not good enough. Greenfleet presents a mechanism for both corporations and individuals to make a difference and take responsibility for their carbon emissions – and to improve biodiversity, address land degradation and grow our nation’s ‘green’ infrastructure,” Mr Jurkschat says.

“Greenfleet is more than about planting trees – although this is important. We have an ambitious strategic plan, and a positive story to tell about how carbon offsetting can address climate change, improve biodiversity and contribute to building better communities, and a better future for all Australians,” Mr Jurkschat adds.

Mr Wescott paid tribute to outgoing chair, Ian Porter, who steps down from the role of Chair after five years.

“Ian’s contribution, both as a policy maker and advocate of clean energy, has helped Greenfleet grow in size and influence. We wish him well in his new role as Chief of Staff to the Victorian Minister for Industry and Energy & Resources,” Mr Wescott says.
