Smartsalary customers help Greenfleet to plant one million trees

Smartsalary staff at Greenfleet planting day A long-term commitment to sustainability from one of Australia’s largest outsourcing salary package companies has helped Greenfleet to plant one million native trees, offsetting carbon emissions and growing the nation’s green infrastructure.

Since 2008, Smartsalary has been partnered with Greenfleet to offset the emissions generated by the thousands of vehicles leased by its customers.

A planting day held on Friday 12 June at Mt Carmel Retreat in Varroville NSW, officially recognised the one millionth tree funded through Smartsalary’s ‘Purple Meets Green’ program.

Through the program, customers make a fortnightly pre-tax donation of $2.42.  Greenfleet is able to plant 17 native trees for each annual donation, rejuvenating hundreds of hectares of native forests around Australia.

With Smartsalary’s support, Greenfleet’s carbon offsetting program is reducing the impacts of climate change, improving biodiversity and creating stronger, more sustainable communities,” says Greenfleet’s Chief Executive Officer, Wayne Wescott.

Smartsalary’s commitment is more than financial.  The Smartsalary team is absolutely committed to environmentally-responsible business practices, and supports Greenfleet’s regular planting days.  The results of this commitment is self-evident – with Smartsalary’s efforts resulting in forests five times the size of Centennial Park in Sydney,” says Smartsalary’s Chief Operating Officer, Dave Adler.

In 2014, Smartsalary was awarded the Huon Award by Greenfleet to acknowledge its commitment to sustainability.

We applaud Smartsalary and its customers for investing in practical, on-the-ground projects that tackle climate change while building the green infrastructure we need for our nation’s future,” Mr Wescott concludes.

On Thursday June 11 at the Smartsalary office, Greenfleet joined Smartsalary in celebrating their one million native tree milestone. Representatives and staff from both Greenfleet & Smartsalary were in attendance at the event. Wayne Wescott, presented Chief Operating Officer at Smartsalary Michael Ellies with a trophy to honor the milestone achievement of Smartsalary.

From everyone at Greenfleet, thank you Smartsalary for your dedication and hard work at the tree planting day. It was a great pleasure to work with you on this day and a great example of what the tremendous support from Smartsalary helps achieve on the ground.
