New partnership to enrich ‘green infrastructure’ in New Zealand

A new partnership between business and environment groups will help to promote green infrastructure in New Zealand.

CardLink Systems Limited (CardLink), a subsidiary of global fuel card provider FLEETCOR, which services millions of cardholders worldwide, has established a program to offset customers’ emissions by planting trees in New Zealand.

Through a partnership with carbon offsetting not-for-profit organisation, Greenfleet, CardLink customers will be able to contribute directly to rejuvenating native forests via a monthly subscription.

Greenfleet’s first New Zealand planting commenced in August 2015 at Atiu Creek in Auckland, with more plantings scheduled for 2016.

We have planted more than 8.5 million trees around Australia since 1997, and this new partnership with CardLink will enable us to extend our reach beyond Australian shores,” says Greenfleet’s Chief Executive Officer, Wayne Wescott.

We are looking forward to working with CardLink to help its customers take practical action on climate change, and to collaborating with conservation organisations and local landholders in New Zealand to enrich biodiversity, build essential green infrastructure and enhance the value of farms,” Mr Wescott adds.

Paul Holland, Fleetcor Australasia’s Managing Director says: “Through our fuel card payment solutions, we already facilitate the reduction of fuel costs and wastage for our customers. A direct carbon offset program is a logical step to make it easier for our customers to lessen their carbon footprint and contribute to long-term environmental improvement.”

We applaud CardLink for taking a lead on tackling climate change.  With CardLink’s support, Greenfleet is reducing the impacts of climate change, improving biodiversity and creating stronger, more sustainable communities,” Mr Wescott concludes.
