Take Climate Action That Helps Our Native Wildlife

Koalas are endangered in many Australian states due to habitat loss and the devastating impacts of climate change. We must act now to restore their habitat and ensure their survival.

Greenfleet has been growing native forests to create sustainable, protected habitat for koalas and other threatened wildlife for over 25 years.

By supporting Greenfleet, you're helping to restore biodiverse forests and build legally protected habitat for koalas and other precious animals.

As an environmental charity that restores native forests, every donation and offset to Greenfleet over $2 is tax-deductible.

How Greenfleet Restores Koala Habitat

Deforestation is a major threat to our beloved plants and animals. It is a key issue affecting koalas.

Greenfleet has planted legally protected habitat for koalas and other threatened wildlife for over 25 years.  Our reforestation projects in 2023 include 493 hectares of new koala habitat, that will be legally protected through the rest of this century. Since 2021, we have restored nearly 1,000 hectares back to native forest that will provide food and homes to these iconic animals.

Our unique approach to native ecosystem restoration means our forests are legally protected for up to 100 years. This ensures koala populations and other wildlife can re-establish and endure for generations.

Our Revegetation Team ensures that koala food and habitat tree species such as Blue Gum (Eucalyptus terticornis) are included in our reforestation projects. Blue Gum is a preferred food source for koalas, insects and birds.

Over their lifetime, these trees can grow up to 50 metres tall with a trunk diameter of up to 2 metres making them an important addition to projects growing koala habitat.

Our Koala Habitat Restoration Projects

  • Our forest at Wurneet Laang Laang in VIC saw Strzelecki Koalas return within 3 years of planting.
  • At Koala Crossing we've planted nearly 100,000 trees on the largest remaining continuous stretch of open eucalypt forest in SE Queensland.
  • We are creating koala habitat in the Byron Hinterland in NSW at Anam Talamh
  • Our project at Hiddenvale in QLD is adjacent to known populations of koalas and integrates road safety with revegetation design to direct koalas to cross under the road safely.
  • We are improving connectivity of existing koala populations on the floodplain of the Wilson River at Greentrees in Northern NSW.
  • We are increasing biodiversity and koala habitat in partnership with Queensland Trust for Nature (QTFN) at Aroona in SE QLD.
  • We are restoring forest cleared a century ago at Ness Creek in Gippsland, VIC.
  • We are planting native species that will provide prime koala food and tree diversity at Dangerbridge in QLD.
  • We are supporting local koala populations through our project at Spurfield Rd in the Northern Rivers of NSW.
