Location: Greenfleet office - 517 Flinders Ln, Melbourne VIC 3000, but can be based anywhere in Australia.

The Role
Greenfleet seeks to appoint two non-executive directors to the Board.
One director will sit on our committee focused on engagement and advocacy. For this position, we are looking for experience in some of the areas of marketing, engagement, writing, research, media, advocacy, and narratives of change.
The other will sit on our carbon sequestration committee. For this position, we are looking for experience in some of the areas of revegetation, carbon accounting, forest restoration, nature positive outcomes, and regenerative agriculture.
Board terms are three years, we meet four times per year, for 2.5 hours, three face to face in Melbourne (one of which is a strategy weekend on-site at our Strzelecki Nature Link in South Gippsland, Victoria) and one online. You will be asked to join one or two committees for 1.5 hours four times per year.
If successful, you will be asked to join us for our May Board Meeting and AGM.

Competencies & Skills
Under the Greenfleet constitution, the Board is made up of directors appointed by Greenfleet. The Board is responsible for the efficient and effective governance of the organisation.
The minimum competencies required of all directors are:
- Policy experience - understanding the government processes and ability to engage in conversations nationally in key areas pertinent to Greenfleet.
Also required:
- Governance skills - understanding of the role of a director and the board and accountability.
- Financial literacy – ability to understand and interpret financial reports.
- Legal literacy – be familiar with the legal obligations of Greenfleet as a not for profit operating in the carbon and nature markets and relying on donations from the public and commercial entities.
- Capacity – to prepare for, attend and contribute to at least 85% of board meetings and be a member of at least one board committee.
- Experience in some of the areas of marketing, engagement, writing, research, media, advocacy and narratives of change.
In addition, the Greenfleet board require directors to have the following attributes:
- Time to commit to performing their director responsibilities with care and diligence.
- Honesty and integrity.
- High standing and repute in their chosen field of endeavour.
- Healthy curiosity, learning mindset and willingness to undertake training related to the role.
- Confidence and ability to question assumptions and challenge proposals; and
- Commitment to upholding Greenfleet’s purpose and values.
