While our forests and supporters continue to grow in number and impact, we remain true to our initial commitment of taking practical action on climate change.

2023

Greenfleet purchases additional properties that will connect to our establishing forest at Wurneet Laang Laang, creating the Strzelecki Nature Link a 3.5 kilometre contiguous habitat corridor for Strzelecki Koalas and other vulnerable species.

2022

Greenfleet celebrates 25 years of growing forests and climate hope. Greenfleet's 10 millionth tree is planted.

Since 1997 we’ve created over 500 native biodiverse forests, restoring 10,000 hectares to native Australian ecosystems and offsetting 4 million tonnes of CO2-e.

2021

Greenfleet announces formal commitment to a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), which was approved by Reconciliation Australia.

Greenfleet signs a landmark Indigenous Land Use Agreement with the Kabi Kabi Peoples Aboriginal Corporation to restore much needed koala habitat and protect Noosa’s iconic landscape.

Together with Kabi Kabi people, the Traditional Owners of the Sunshine Coast region, Greenfleet develops a new carbon offset with verified cultural and social co-benefits.

2020

Greenfleet begins revegetating Ngulambarra, in partnership with the traditional custodians of the land, the Dja Dja Wurrung people. Greenfleet plans to continue restoring this 340 hectare property in the coming years.

Greenfleet achieves formal Climate Active Certification, verifying that all of our operations have resulted in net zero emissions.

2019

Greenfleet partners with Bush Heritage Australia on an innovative climate-change research project at Nardoo Hills Reserve in Victoria.

2018

Greenfleet’s 9 millionth tree is planted.

Greenfleet meets with HRH The Prince of Wales in Queensland to discuss our Low Glow Project.

In conjunction with Telstra and the local community, Greenfleet undertakes a planting project in Kowanayama, Queensland, to enable both native revegetation and fresh food supply.

2017

Greenfleet joins forces with The Walt Disney Company (Australia) and Prince’s Trust Australia to launch the Low Glow project and help protect endangered sea turtles from artificial light pollution.

2016

Greenfleet purchases its second property 'Wurneet Laang Laang' in Victoria.

Greenfleet registers its first Carbon Right in Queensland.

Greenfleet becomes the first organisation in Australia to be provided with Carbon Rights on Crown Land.

2015

Greenfleet branches out across the Tasman and plants its first forest in New Zealand.

2014

Greenfleet manages the first reforestation project ever to be issued Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) in Australia.

2013

Greenfleet’s 8 millionth tree is planted.

Greenfleet purchases its first property 'Avoca' in NSW. Our first projects are registered under the Carbon Farming Initiative (CFI).

2012

Greenfleet becomes a Recognised Offsets Entity with a registry account under the CFI.

2011

Greenfleet’s 7 millionth tree is planted.

Greenfleet addresses the Senate Environment and Communications Legislation Committee regarding the proposed Carbon Farming Initiative.

Greenfleet is a finalist in the World Environment Day Awards for Biodiversity.

2010

Greenfleet’s 6 millionth tree is planted.

Greenfleet releases ‘Your sustainable transport guide’ to encourage emissions reduction in transport use.

Greenfleet is a finalist in the World Environment Day Awards for Biodiversity and the Banksia Awards for Land & Biodiversity.

2008

Greenfleet’s 5 millionth tree is planted.

Greenfleet becomes the first not-for-profit organisation to gain Greenhouse Friendly™ Approval for forest sink methodology.

Greenfleet is a finalist in the World Environment Day Awards.

Scouts & Greenfleet plant their 1 millionth tree together for the Murray Darling Rescue project.

2007

Greenfleet’s 3 millionth tree is planted.

2006

Greenfleet organises a Technology Trial and display at Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix.

2005

Greenfleet’s 2 millionth tree is planted.

2004

Greenfleet releases the Tree Totaller - an online emissions calculator for vehicles, flights & utilities developed with Alan Pears.

2002

Greenfleet launches its first website.

2001

Greenfleet receives Deductible Gift Recipient status and is listed on the Register of Environmental Organisations in Australia.

2000

Greenfleet Australia is established as an independent organisation.

1997

At a time when climate change was still a disputed phenomenon, Greenfleet is launched in October 1997. It is the first carbon offset provider in Australia.

Developed as a project of The Foster Foundation to offer Australian motorists a tree-planting program to re-capture CO2 emissions, and promote fuel-efficient technologies. Greenfleet's very first forest is planted in West Gippsland, Victoria.
