Delivering significant climate action by removing carbon, Foster Mirboo is a large-scale revegetation project demonstrating how organisations can lead the way on protecting our climate.

Located in South Gippsland, the rolling hills of this property were planted in 2025. The project builds on the long-term partnership between the EBOS Group and Greenfleet. By purchasing this property for revegetation, EBOS is taking tangible action to remove their emissions, build wildlife habitat, and help conserve biodiversity in the region.

Location & Map

South Gippsland is a region known for koalas and other wildlife. The restoration of the Foster Mirboo property builds on Greenfleet’s extensive work in the Gippsland.

Revegetation Approach & Species Selection

At Foster Mirboo, 12 locally native species have been selected for the reforestation component of the project. Over time, the trees planted will support the return of two Ecological Vegetation Classes (EVCs); Wet Forest, a depleted ecosystem in the region, and Damp Forest, one that is classified as endangered.

Planted as seedlings across the site, the species selected include several eucalypts, as well as prickly Moses (Acacia verticillata), and dogwood (Cassinia aculeata). Dogwood is a moderately sized tree that will help stabilise the soil and provide food sources for small mammals, birds, and insects.

Planting concluded in September 2025 with ongoing monitoring planned for years to come.

Enriching a Koala Hotspot

Gippsland has some of the strongest koala populations in Australia. The forest growing at Foster Mirboo will create additional habitat for these animals as they move, feed, and breed in the region.

In 2025, our trail cameras picked up multiple koalas, wallabies and wombats moving through the site. Currently navigating grass, in time koalas will be able to utilise trees such as blue gums (Eucalyptus globulus) included in the species mix.

Foster Mirboo is just one example of the work Greenfleet is doing to grow protected koala habitat.

Partnering to Protect the Climate

This project has been established in partnership with our long-term supporter, the EBOS Group.

Partnering with us since 2007, they have supported revegetation projects across Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria. Pictured is the EBOS team at a Greenfleet planting event at our Strzelecki Nature Link project.

The project at Foster Mirboo is the next step in EBOS’ commitment to authentic climate action. It is the first time the company has acquired land for environmental purposes, demonstrating how EBOS prioritises sustainability and corporate responsibility.

Long-term Climate Action

The forest planted at Foster Mirboo will remove over 244,400 tonnes of carbon from the atmosphere as it grows. This is the equivalent of what almost 57,000 average vehicles emit on Australia’s roads in a single year.

Greenfleet uses the Full Carbon Accounting Method (FullCAM) to measure the carbon uptake at each of our native revegetation projects. This model was developed by the CSIRO and is used by the Australian Government. Our carbon estate is verified by an Australian Government accredited auditor.
