Following six years of dedicated service, Dr Dominique Hes has concluded her term as Chair of the Greenfleet Board and passed the baton on to Jorge Chapa.
Jorge is the Chief Impact Officer at the Green Building Council of Australia, where he aims to deliver healthy, resilient, and positive places for people and nature. He joined our Board in 2022 and has been integral to our strategic direction over the years. He brings a wealth of knowledge in ESG reporting, sustainable finance and social equity to our organisation.
“I’m honoured to be taking on the role of Chair at Greenfleet at such an important time for climate and nature action in Australia,” said Jorge. “Greenfleet has built an incredible legacy restoring forests and ecosystems that deliver long-term environmental impact, and I’m looking forward to working with the Board and team to build on that strong foundation.”
Greenfleet CEO Wayne Wescott said of the appointment: "I'm excited to welcome Jorge Chapa as Chair. His understanding of our purpose, and the expertise he brings, will be instrumental as we continue to develop our long-term and focused removal of carbon and restoration of nature. I look forward to us collaborating closely during his term."
Greenfleet is a leading environmental organisation delivering tangible, effective and long-lasting climate action, and Dominique’s leadership has been essential to our success.
“I want to acknowledge the outstanding contribution of outgoing Chair Dominique Hes,” Jorge told us. “Under her leadership, Greenfleet experienced a remarkable period of growth and impact, helping position the organisation as a leading force in practical climate and nature action.”
"As Dominique concludes her term as our Chair, I want to acknowledge the deep knowledge, experience and passion she has brought to the role,” said Wayne. “As a champion for our environment, her exceptional leadership has seen Greenfleet through a period of significant growth and I am grateful for her collaborative and inclusive approach."
“Since joining Greenfleet at the end of 2017, it's been a remarkable journey,” said Dominique. “Serving as Chair for two terms has been an incredible privilege, and I'm genuinely proud of the progress we've all made together. Greenfleet is a wonderful organisation with fantastic staff and such a vital purpose. I'm stepping down excited about the future under our new Chair's leadership. I have full confidence in where we're headed.”
Our Board is composed of leaders from a wide variety of academic, commercial and sustainability backgrounds, who help ensure Greenfleet remains a purpose-driven, sustainable organisation that continues to take effective action on climate change.
“There is a growing focus from businesses, governments and communities on delivering practical climate and nature outcomes, and Greenfleet is well placed to help lead that work,” Jorge said. “I’m excited about the opportunity ahead to continue expanding Greenfleet’s impact and supporting projects that create lasting environmental benefits for future generations.”
